My Father's Shadow is a 2025 semi-autobiographical drama about two brothers who travel with their estranged father to Lagos during Nigeria's 1993 presidential election. As they navigate the chaotic city, the boys begin to understand their father's difficult life and the complexities of their relationship, all set against the backdrop of the country's uncertain political future.

Akinola Davies Jr. is a Nigerian-British writer, director, and moving image artist known for his multifaceted work spanning film, fashion, and music videos. His work is influenced by his dual upbringing in West Africa and the UK, and explores themes of community, race, identity, and the intersection of colonial and indigenous narratives. He is the director of the Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winning short film, Lizard, and his debut feature, My Father's Shadow, was the first Nigerian film selected for the Cannes Film Festival's Official Selection.
