e Accordi
Echi e Accordi è un progetto di oltre 500 dittici in cui opere d’arte occidentali e afrodiscendenti sono accostate. Nella serie ogni dittico è una rima visuale dove le immagini sono in dialogo tra loro.
Isolati dal proprio contesto originario, i lavori si mostrano come forme diacroniche di una stessa lingua, e fanno emergere un terzo contesto che offre nuove possibilità di lettura. Una lettura che disvela significati latenti, colti nel momento in cui le immagini vengono associate.
L’associazione tra arte europea e arte africana riflette i retroterra culturali dell’artista: ghanese e italiano, africano ed europeo. Una dualità “both/and” che abbraccia punti di vista apparentemente contrastanti, ma essenzialmente simili.
Echoes and Accords is a project of over 500 diptychs in which Western and Afro-descendant works of art are juxtaposed. In the series each diptych is a visual rhyme where the images are in dialogue with each other.
Isolated from their original context, the works show themselves as diachronic forms of the same language, and bring out a third context that offers new possibilities of reading. A reading that reveals latent meanings, captured when the images are associated.
The association between European art and African art reflects the artist’s cultural backgrounds: Ghanaian and Italian, African and European. A “both/and” duality that embraces apparently contrasting, but essentially similar, points of view.

Theophilus Imani
Theophilus Imani è un visual researcher di origine ghanese. Attualmente sta conseguendo la laurea in medicina presso l’Università degli Studi di Pavia. Oltre alla sua formazione medica, Theophilus ha coltivato uno sguardo critico per le esperienze nere globali, con un focus
particolare sull’arte contemporanea africana e afro-diasporica. Nella sua pratica, Imani ricerca le sintonie e interferenze tra l’archivio dell’arte afro-diasporica e i lavori afferenti al canone artistico occidentale.
Theophilus Imani is a visual researcher of Ghanaian origin. He is currently pursuing a medical degree at the University of Pavia. In addition to his medical training, Theophilus has cultivated a critical eye for global black experiences, with a focus
particular focus on contemporary African and Afro-diasporic art. In her practice, Imani searches for harmonies and interferences between the archive of Afro-diasporic art and works relating to the Western artistic canon.
